We had a wonderful time in the FW "Steuerbord". The lovingly and handcrafted high-quality apartment with a protected terrace and fenced garden completely thrilled us. It was clean, cozy, and there was simply nothing to complain about. The location directly at the NOK is an absolute highlight. We especially appreciated the opportunity, as seniors with limited mobility, to easily obtain exquisite fish sandwiches and other delicacies right across the street. We greatly enjoyed our stay and sincerely thank Maria and Knut, the always friendly and helpful hosts.

We were guests for two weeks in this tasteful, cozy, and very clean vacation apartment. We lacked nothing.
The communication with the landlord was very straightforward and informative from the beginning.
We frequently traveled by public transport. This is time-consuming, the departure times are, for example, based on school schedules, the route goes through the villages, but it is also relaxing. Afterwards, we relaxed on the terrace, which was designed with various blooming plants.
We can only recommend the vacation apartment and would gladly return.

Beautifully authentic old house. We were already thrilled by the pictures on the internet, the reality was even better. It was super quiet and the indoor temperature was a constant 15 degrees, even when it was very hot outside. The landlords were very nice and always tried to do everything right. The surroundings are beautiful and there is a lot to discover. Overall, we definitely recommend it because the price is also reasonable.

If you want to explore Schleswig-Holstein with a vacation apartment or holiday home, you can hardly miss the Hanseatic city of Lübeck and the Lübeck Bay. The historic old town in Lübeck is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the impressive Holsten Gate, the museum ship Passat Travemünde, or the fishing harbor. Lübeck is a city that leaves a lasting impression. There is also much to discover in Schleswig - for example, the fishing district Holm. The historic settlement is a special destination for tourists from all over the world. It also houses the best-preserved monastery complex in the state, the St. John's Monastery. An impressive naval memorial can be found in Laboe. The monument stands for peaceful seafaring and commemorates those lost at sea from all nations. The 341 steps to the viewing platform are worth it. You enjoy a magnificent view over the Kiel Fjord or Kiel Bay. A highlight is also St. Peter-Ording with its endless beach, the dunes, the pine forest, and the sea. Here you can relax, engage in water sports, explore the numerous attractions of the old town, the interesting museums, the astonishing houses, or the unique landscape. Scharbeutz is also particularly lively - especially in the Scharbeutz Dune Mile with a wonderful view of the Baltic Sea.
Book yourself a comfortable vacation apartment or holiday home, possibly with a large garden, Wi-Fi, and then start your holiday adventure. After Oktoberfest, Kiel Week is the largest folk festival in all of Germany. It is THE sailing event in the world. The streets and harbors then become particularly international and lively. A very special flair awaits visitors here. A day trip to the North Sea island of Helgoland is worth it. Visit the landmark, the "Lange Anna," greet the seals on the dunes, and stroll along the quaint lobster shacks. The over 100-year-old Kiel Canal is also among the top tips for Schleswig-Holstein. There is much to experience on land and water - from restaurants, cafes, cruise ships to beautiful bike paths for more active vacationers. The long arm of the Baltic Sea is the Schlei. Here, there is much to see and more attractions. The Baltic fjord stretches 40 kilometers from the coast to the inland. Arnis, the smallest town in Germany, is also located on the Schlei. A major attraction for a Baltic Sea holiday in a quiet location. Last but not least, we recommend Büsum, a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen. It is a beautiful harbor town directly on the North Sea. After St. Peter-Ording and Westerland, Büsum is the third-largest place for tourism on the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast.
The Eckernförde Bay, Lübeck, Kiel, the North Sea, the Gelting Bay, Sylt, or Fischland-Darß-Zingst - all these destinations and places are ideal for a holiday with the whole family and also for a holiday with a dog in Schleswig-Holstein. We especially recommend Fehmarn. The island is known as the golden crown of the Baltic Sea and has beautiful beaches and attractions by the sea. Fehmarn is one of the sunniest spots in Germany. There you can also rent several cozy vacation apartments and holiday homes. Timmendorfer Beach and Niendorf are also highlights for families. Here you will marvel at the beautiful nature, wonderful promenades, and delightful beach adventures. If you are in Bad Segeberg, a visit to the Noctalis Bat World is worthwhile. Here you will find an interactive exhibition about and with living bats. It gets animalistic at the Multimar Wattforum Tönning too. Here, aquariums with over 280 species can be visited. Another destination for families is the North Frisian island of Amrum with the 15-kilometer-long Kniepsand beach. North Frisia is simply fun!
Regional and seasonal products are highly valued in Schleswig-Holstein. In the many typical country houses or inns, you can try the specialties or stop by the cozy farm cafes. The regional products can often be bought directly from the producer. Numerous quaint, private farm shops line the state. Special delicacies include spicy cheese, freshly caught fish, tender dyke lamb, or fragrant Katenschinken. Maritime cuisine is particularly popular - for example, with matjes herring with boiled potatoes, eel soup, cod with mustard sauce, buttered plaice, pike, Kiel sprats, or fish cakes. But there are also liquid delicacies waiting for you: Friesengeist or Küstennebel from traditional distilleries are ideal ingredients for a cozy winter evening by the fireplace in the vacation apartment or holiday home, or on a balmy summer evening on the beach during a beach holiday in Schleswig-Holstein. Enjoy the Schleswig-Holstein way of life to the fullest!
You can find special architecture in almost every place in the state of Schleswig-Holstein - for example, with St. Peter's Cathedral in Schleswig, the quaint houses at the Danish border in Scandinavian style, or in the small town of Heiligenhafen. A special cultural highlight awaits you in Bad Segeberg at the Karl May Festival. Here, you can be transported back to the Wild West around the year 1870. Families regularly go wild when they can see Winnetou or Old Shatterhand up close. Expect an elaborate show, with lots of action, great stunts, and high suspense - all under the open sky. It also gets historical and vivid at the Viking Museum Haithabu in Schleswig. Experience history up close also at Gottorf Castle, which houses two state museums. Let yourself be enchanted by the interesting art and cultural history and the archaeological history of Schleswig-Holstein! Culturally, the region of Schleswig-Holstein has a lot to offer - with museums, festivals, stages, or historical monuments. Try it with a holiday in an affordable holiday home or apartment rented privately.
Schleswig-Holstein is the northernmost federal state of the Federal Republic of Germany and borders Denmark. The city of Kiel is the state capital. Lübeck, Flensburg, and Neumünster are major urban centers. The state is situated between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. From the east, you can take the A20 and A24, from the south via the A7 and A1, and from the north via the A7. From Niebüll, you can also reach the island of Sylt in just 35 minutes by car train. To reach the other North Frisian islands and the Halligen, as well as Helgoland, you can conveniently use the ferries. The Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn is also accessible by car via the Fehmarnsund Bridge. If you are starting your holiday by plane, you can land in Kiel, Lübeck, or better yet, in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel. From there, you can continue your journey comfortably by suburban trains. From Hamburg, you can easily reach all major cities in Schleswig-Holstein by train - to your accommodation or the privately rented house.
